                                Andakasa Temple

Andakasa temple is one of the celestial universe temple, kahyangan jagat, located in the village of Gegelang Manggis district, Karangasem regency. If you move to the east from Denpasar, after about two hours driving and pass Pura Goa Lawah you will find the only traffic light. Turn right will lead to Padangbay port and while directly turn left will bring you to Pura Andakasa. The word andakasa relates to the word akasa which means sky, heaven, or high place.


There is a folklore which tells us that in ancient times there were three eggs fell from the sky in Antiga village. When approached by the public, the eggs exploded and then smoke. Then the smoke was blowing from the village of Antiga towards three directions, namely to the southwest, northwest, and north. Society then heard the sound from the nature. The words stated that the smoke that leads to the southwest was the embodiment of God Brahma. Since that time the hill was named Andakasa regard as a place of Brahma. The smoke forwarding the northwest, went to Bukit Cemeng, was the embodiment of God Wishnu, the place where later on Pura Puncaksari was built. The smoke to the north was an embodiment of Batara Shiva that worshiped in the Pura Jati. That three temples in the three hills is now as directions of worship the people in the village of Gegelang and Antiga.

According to Babad Bali site, Pura Luhur Andakasa serves as one of the Kahyangan Jagat, also as a Sad Kahyangan. It is a place of worship for all Hindus. Pura Luhur Andakasa is the place of worship of Hyang Tugu or Lord Brahma who controlled southern region in the structure of  Dewata Nawasanga. This temple was founded by Mpu Kuturan estimated at about the eleventh century. This temple later on first developed and renovated in the seventeenth century AD.

At this temple there are several places of worship such as worship for Hyang Tugu, Sapta Petala and Anglurah Agung . 

Piodalan

Piodalan holds every 210 days on the Anggara Kliwon Wuku Medangsia. It holds pecaruan at every Anggara Kliwon wuku Perangbakat, wuku Dukut, and wuku Kulantir according to balinese calendar. ( from some resources)
