At Gelgel

Pura Dasar Gelgel

Location

Pura Dasar Gelgel located in the village of Gelgel, Klungkung district, Klungkung regency. It is about 70 kilometers from Denpasar city or about an hour driving from Denpasar.  This temple was established in honor of Mpu Ghana, holy teacher that has important role in the development of Hinduism in Bali.

Inside the temple there are places of worship of God Almighty and his manifestations. There are also shrines for ancestral spirits of four clans such as Warga Pasek Maha Gotra Sanak Sapta Resi. 

Some buildings of worship at this location include padmasana Surya Raditya, places of worship Batara Dalem Dasar Gelgel, Betara Gunung Agung, Ratu Pasek, Betara Kentel Gumi, and Sakenan.  by Mpu Dwijaksara Gelgel of the Majapahit Empire in the thirteenth century AD in honor of the Empu Ghana.

History

Pura Dasar Gelgel was built by Mpu Dwijaksara from Majapahit Kingdom who came to Bali during the reign of Udayana Warmadewa and Gunapraya Gharmapatni.

Piodalan

Piodalan held two times a year at Pamacekan Agung and Purnama Kapat, according to balinese calendar.
