Pura Pusering Jagat

Location

Pusering Jagat temple located in the village of Pejeng, Tampaksiring District, about 7 kilometers from the town of Gianyar. If you come from the city of Denpasar to travel about 1 hour. Pusering Jagat Pura is one of the six Pura Kahyangan Jagat and plays as the abode of Lord Shiva.

Kahyangan Jagat sadwinayaka conception consists of Pura Besakih, Pura Luhur Lempuyang, Pura Goa Lawah, Pura Uluwatu. Pura Batukaru, and Pura Puser Tasik (Pura Pusering Jagat ). Pura Kahyangan Jagat belonging to the group of six is called Pura Sad Kahyangan Jagat Bali

The most major shrine here is the shrine of the Queen 'Ratu Pusering Jagat'. In this temple there are also statues of shrines to Ganesha, Durga, and Bhairawa. There are also statues shaped purusa and pradana. Purusa and Pradana is the first of God's creation. Purusa is the psychological seed, whereas Pradana is material   seeds . These Purusa and Pradana that gave birth to life and harmony. At Pura Pusering Jagat is also a shrine of Betara Amangkurat, a place of worship for government officials in order to organize the religious life to be able implementing good governance to achieve the welfare of the people.

A bit of History

The word 'pusar=belly' means the center and the 'jagat=universe' means the world. Temple as its center of the world. Local people refer to it as 'Pura Kelod', believed to be in the center of the universe and the beginning of life and civilization of the world. This temple was founded in Bali while still united in one kingdom with Mpu Kuturan as Pandita of kingdom.
