Pura
Pucak Mangu is called as Pura Kahyangan Jagat with two functions, namely as the
Pura Catur Loka Pala and Pura Padma Bhuwana. Pura Catur Loka Pala are four
temples as media worship of God who protects the four corners of the Great
Bhuwana. Pura Pucak Mangu in the north, Andakasa in the south, Pura Lempuyang
Luhur in the eastward and in the westward Pura Luhur Batukaru.
At
Pura Penataran Agung Pucak Mangu there are several buildings of worship such as
Padmasana shrine Ida Sang Hyang Widhi, Padma Three shrines Ida Batara Siwa,
Sada Shiva, and Parama Shiva. There are also shrines 'Earth' Pertiwi, shrine
Hyang Manik Gumawang son of Hyang Pasupati, and eleventh intercropping Meru
shrine Ida Batara Sangkara. In this temple there is a large phallus made
of natural stone complete with rectangular (Brahma Bhaga), octagonal (Vishnu
Bhaga) and spherical shape (Shiva Bhaga). This suggests that in ancient times
this mountain has become a center of worship of Deva Shiva.
Pura
Pucak Mangu was built arround 1830AD by the king of Mengwi. After I Gusti Agung
Putu, Mengwi king who lost his battle with the king of Tabanan, told to
'ngeleng' - look around by Betara Pucak Mangu. Area that was seen by king later
on become of his dominions. That's why it is also called Pucak Pengelengan
Piodalan
Piodalan
at this temple takes place once every year which coincided with Purnama Sasih
Kelima according to balinese calendar. In addition, in this temple there is
'pagebek ceremony' applying specifically for crop fertility.
